Letters: Friday’s for the dogs
To the editor:
This Friday, June 26, is annual Take Your Dog to Work Day, sponsored by Pet Sitters International.
According to a survey of pet owners by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, nearly one in five companies in the U.S. allows pets in the workplace routinely. There are several places in the Leavenworth area where pets are part of the workforce.
These tips come from Dog Fancy magazine:
Owners who take their pets to work should make sure the animal is bathed and groomed, pest-free, up-to-date on vaccinations. Take along some toys and treats and the water bowl, and a way to control your dog — a leash or a gate, or even a crate. Put poisonous plants, cords and toxic items out of reach. No matter how well you think your dog will do, it's important to have an exit strategy. Never tether the dog outdoors, or worse, leave it in the car!
Leavenworth County Humane Society encourages everyone to check with their office and ask if they can participate in Take Your Dog to Work Day this year. Having your adorable companion offers an opportunity to talk about the importance of spay/neuter, vaccination and adoption as the best pet option!
