Young breaks school record in long jump

The Basehor-Linwood Middle School track team recently completed a successful season that was capped by a stellar showing at the Kaw Valley League meet.

Lane Young highlighted the meet, winning the long jump with a school-record leap of 18 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

Other top performances by BLMS at the KVL meet included first-place finishes in the shot put and discus by Ben Johnson, as well as a second-place mark in the high jump; a second-place finish by Jacob Boyer in the shot put; a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash and third-place long jump by Dustin Denham; a runner-up finish in the 1,600 by Allison Laney; a second-place finish in the 3,200 by Samantha Rutherford; second-place in the 800 and third in the 1,600 by Haley Stallbaumer; a first-place discus throw and third-place shot put performance by Victoria Smith; third place in the 800 by Alec Otting; third in the hurdles by Dustin Williams; third place in the discus by Courtney Payne; third in the 200 by Abby Loveall; and third in the high jump by Desiree Ridder.
