International group honors Lansing’s city administrator
Michael W. Smith, Lansing city administrator, recently received a 30-year service award from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
Smith’s achievement was celebrated during the 95th ICMA Annual Conference earlier this fall. ICMA Service Awards recognize members’ dedication to public service and professional management at the local level. Awards are based on the number of years of full-time employment in local government.
Prior to becoming Lansing’s city administrator in 1999, Smith served as chief of police for the city and in other positions with the Police Department for 20 years.
