Police warn residents of burglaries

October 12, 2009

The Lansing Police Department is investigating recent burglaries of homes and vehicles in the Holiday Hills/Adams Acres area of the city and encouraging residents to double-check their home’s security.

The burglaries are believed to be occurring in the evening to early-morning hours and include incidents at occupied homes. Two firearms have been reported stolen during these burglaries.

Officers were patrolling the area early Monday morning, Oct. 12, and came upon a person with whom they attempted to talk. As soon as the person saw the officers, he ran through several yards and was not apprehended.

Police are encouraging residents to double-check the security of their homes and vehicles and to remove any valuable items from their vehicles.

If you have any questions regarding home security, please contact the Lansing Police Department for a residence security check.

In a news release issued Monday, Lansing Police said officers would continue to maximize foot patrol efforts, investigative leads and technological advancements to protect residents and apprehend suspects.

Please immediately report any suspicious activity in your area to police by calling 911 or dispatch at (913) 682-1313.

Anyone with information in connection with this ongoing investigation is asked to call the Lansing Police Department at (913)727-3000 or e-mail tips@lansing.ks.us.
