Ramp closures on the horizon
Ramp closures are scheduled to begin in Wyandotte County at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, and ending Friday, Oct. 23. Affected ramps will be reduced down to one lane for pavement marking work in connection with a reconstruction project in Wyandotte County.
Also during the project, Interstate 70 will be reduced down to one lane and various ramps in the I-70/Interstate 435 interchange will be temporarily closed.
The reconstruction project itself consists of the replacement of roadway pavement on the eastbound and westbound I-70 mainline lanes from 110th Street to 94th Street, as well as the associated ramps in that area. J.M. Fahey Constructions is the primary contractor for this $4.6 million project. The expected completion date is late summer 2010.
The following is a list of affected ramps and detours:
• Northbound I-435 to eastbound I-70; marked detour: east to 78th Street, then back to westbound I-70 to northbound I-435.
• Eastbound I-70 to northbound I-435; marked detour: east to 78th Street, then back to westbound I-70 to northbound I-435.
• State Avenue to eastbound I-70
• Southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70
Advance message boards will alert traffic to these ramp closures and updated information can be viewed online at ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
