Basehor-Linwood planning Homecoming festivities
The Basehor-Linwood High School Homecoming activities begin Sept. 24. The theme for the 2009 Homecoming activities will be “The Game of Life.”
Festivities will begin at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, with a bonfire behind the high school. The public is invited to attend.
The Homecoming parade is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
The parade route will run between Leavenworth Road and Parallel, along 155th Street. Parking will be available in the field between the Sixth Grade Center and Basehor Elementary for parents dropping off parade participants.
At the start of the parade the following streets will be blocked off until the conclusion of the parade: 153rd Terrace, 156th Street off of Leavenworth Road, Poplar at 155th Street and Parallel at 155th. Officers will be stationed along the route to shut down cross traffic as needed. Motorcycles and dirt bikes will not be allowed to enter the parade.
Parade winners will be announced at the football game and posted on the marquee in front of the high school.
The Homecoming candidates, princes and princesses will be introduced and the 2009 king and queen will be crowned at halftime of the Homecoming game against Turner High School, which begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
The BLHS “The Game of Life” dance will conclude the festivities. The dance begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the high school and will run until about 10 p.m.
