Fishing Derby set for Saturday
The Lansing Parks and Recreation Department is playing host to the ninth annual Fishing Derby from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Kenneth W. Bernard Community Park.
The park is about 2.5 miles west of the intersection of 4-H Road and Kansas Highway 7. Activities will consist of a fishing derby followed by a picnic lunch.
Preregistration is $5 per child. Cost includes bait and a picnic lunch. Participants are encouraged to bring chairs or a blanket. Anyone not participating in the Derby who would like a picnic lunch can buy a lunch ticket the day of the event for $3. Youths up to the age of 15 may participate in the Fishing Derby. All participants will need to bring a fishing pole, (one fishing pole per registered participant) and must be accompanied by an adult.

To register, go to www.lansing.ks.us and click on the Document Center link at the bottom of the Web page. In the Parks and Recreation folder, click on the 2010 Fishing Derby Flyer. Print and deliver the completed form to the Parks and Recreation Office, 108 S. Second Street in Lansing.
There is an increased fee of $10 per child on the day of the derby for onsite registration. Pre-registration must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 7.
