New downtown boutique opens for business
Sweet Repeats Consignment Boutique had its grand opening event Saturday complete with balloons, a popcorn machine, a ribbon-cutting and plenty of customers.
“It was really, really good,” said boutique owner Melissa Adcox. “We were very busy. I’m just enthusiastic about what the future holds.”
Sweet Repeats, 201 Oak St., is a consignment boutique in which people can sell items as well as buy gently-used items. Sellers get 40 percent of the items original value in cash and 10 percent off any purchases in the store.
The opening of the business marked a milestone for Adcox as she said it was always a dream of hers to own her own business. While she is still keeping her full-time job as a mail carrier, Adcox said she hoped the store grew and could one day become her only job.
“It feels fantastic. I’m living my dream,” Adcox said. “It’s just the beginning, but I’ve always wanted to own my own business. It’s a dream come true.”
Adcox said other downtown Bonner Springs businesses have been welcoming her to the community since she began work on setting up the new store. She says the tight knit community of business owners is the support she’ll need during her new venture.
“I’m excited about being part of that group,” Adcox said. “Bonner is kind of like a hidden secret that people don’t know about it. It’s a cool place, and I’m excited to help get the word out.”
The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For information about the shop, go online to sweetrepeats.vpweb.com.
