‘Game On Against Hunger’ coming to Bonner
For a second year, friendly competition among fans of Kansas State University, Kansas University and the University of Missouri-Columbia will help CHOP Hunger in Kansas City.
Price Chopper and Harvesters — The Community Food Network will launch “Game On Against Hunger” on Friday, Aug. 27. Between then and Oct. 21, Price Chopper stores will have three Harvesters barrels designated for KSU, KU or MU. Fans can donate food in their favorite school’s barrel, all of which will go toward feeding hungry people in the community.
Last year’s “Game On Against Hunger” campaign collected enough food to create more than 8,000 meals for hungry people in Kansas City. MU barrels collected the most food, followed by KU and then KSU.
“Game On Against Hunger” kicks off with three pep rallies, one for each school. The public is invited to stop by, meet the school’s cheerleaders and get a picture taken with Willie the Wildcat, Big Jay or Truman the Tiger.
The Kansas State pep rally will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Shawnee Price Chopper, 12010 West 63rd St. The Missouri pep rally will take place at the same time at the Platte City (Mo.) Price Chopper, 2600 Ensign Hill Dr. The Kansas University pep rally will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Bonner Springs Price Chopper, 501 Commercial Dr.
