Winery opens harvest of grape crop to public

August 26, 2010

Holy-Field Vineyard and Winery’s “Picking Sundays” have returned. As the Basehor winery’s grape crop ripens, the public is invited to come out on Sundays to help with the harvest.

This year’s schedule of “Picking Sundays” will be Aug. 22, Aug. 29, Sept. 5, Sept. 12, Sept. 19, Sept 26 and Oct. 3.

The picking dates are subject to change as the condition and readiness of the crop needs to be determined by winery staff.

Each Sunday, the public volunteers will spend their time at the winery harvesting and crushing different grapes.

Reservations are required. Those who sign up to be part of each Sunday’s harvest crew will meet at 8 a.m. at the winery, 18807 158th St., Basehor. A buffet lunch will be served following the harvest.

To make a reservation or for more information, contact the winery at (913) 724-9463.
