Center accepting applications for rental assistance
A new grant will allow Wyandot Center to provide rental assistance to eligible applicants in the community.
Edie Harrison, Wyandot Center service coordinator, said that to be eligible for the assistance, persons must meet income requirements, have a disability, be single and submit an application. Receiving services through Wyandot Center is not an eligibility requirement.
Applications are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the receptionist’s desk at Wyandot Center’s Adult Services, 1301 N. 47th St., Kansas City, Kan.
Wyandot Center is one of 12 agencies designated to receive funds from the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for Tenant Based Rental Assistance. The intention of the funds is to help individuals, victims of domestic violence, the elderly and persons with disabilities obtain affordable rental housing in the community. Funded through the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program, Tenant Based Rental Assistance allows organizations like Wyandot Center to provide rental subsidies and security deposits for income-eligible individuals.
Wyandot Center received a $50,000 grant.
