Simpson leads BLHS wrestlers at Northwest Cougar Invitational
Tyler Simpson placed second in the 140-pound weight class on Saturday at the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougar Invitational.
Simpson lost in the finals to Moteak Peoples of Blue Valley Northwest, 2-1.
The loss left him with a 3-1 record for the day, and it followed three matches in which Simpson won by pin.
In the opening round, Simpson defeated Beau Creech of Topeka Washburn Rural. The pin came midway through the second period. He won in the next round against Emilio Love of Wichita Southeast with a first-period pin. In the semifinals, Simpson pinned Davis Clum of Shawnee Mission West early in the second period.
