Huge second half lifts BLHS girls to rout of Turner
February 4, 2010
It was interesting for a half, but eventually the Basehor-Linwood girls quit messing around and took care of business.
The Bobcats — currently tied for second in the Kaw Valley League girls basketball standings — blew out last-place Turner, 65-40 on Wednesday at BLHS.
The Bobcats led just 19-14 at halftime after a sloppy half, but coach Noah Simpson's squad regrouped in the locker room at intermission and returned to the court with a vengeance. They put up 23 points in the third quarter and 23 more in the fourth to motor away for the victory.
The 46-point second half explosion was the Bobcats' biggest offensive half of basketball by far this season.
Senior Cassy Bever led all scorers with 20 points, junior Courtney Poe scored 18 and junior Megan Bergstrom scored 15 to pace the Bobcats. Freshman Jamie Johnson scored 6, senior Taylor Johnson had 4 and junior Shelby Equels added 2.
BLHS (7-6 overall, 4-2 KVL) next play at 6 p.m. Friday at home against Mill Valley.
