Search is on for Lansing sports record-holders

February 4, 2010

A project our son Tom is now working on is to establish statistics of the approximate top ten individual athletes in Lansing High School’s history. This includes all sports, girls and boys.

His intent is to install all these records on the hallway in our new auditorium calling it “The Wall of Records”. If you are a coach, former coach or former player who has records of your days at LHS, Tom would love to hear from you with all the statistics possible. Send any information to his e-mail address:

History is the recording of events and this is history in the making. It is Tom’s hope that this will extend to other statistical records besides sports, which would include awards in academics, forensics, music, art, theater, science, geographic experiences, etc.

At this point in time the individual statistics, he is looking for is: total points in a basketball game, most rebounds, steals, blocks, field goals, free throws, most assists, double-doubles, three-pointers, etc., and in football, most touchdowns, rushing yardage, passing yardage, fumbles recovered, blocked kicks, etc. Track statistics are already recorded but others besides basketball and football would include: wrestling, volleyball, tennis, weight lifting, cross country, swimming, bowling and whatever else would be in the sports field.

It is a terrific job putting all of this together and he has friends helping him now. It will take some time and help from many folks to compile all the statistics. It will be made in a way that future record breakers can be added to the list. This will give students at Lansing the opportunity to look at it and say, “Hey, I can beat that record.” Go for it students.
