KCKCC to offer classes in floral design and belly dancing
Upcoming classes to be offered at Kansas City Kansas Community College include belly dance conditioning and spring floral design.
Belly dance conditioning will consist of a series of five workout classes from 7:05 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. Mondays, starting Feb. 22, in Room 2906 on the east side of the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Avenue.
The class will be instructed by Beth Jones of the Maya Zahira school of Belly Dance and is appropriate for beginning levels all the way up to advanced dancers. Benefits of the class will include a total body workout that raises your heart rate, burns fat and tones muscles.
The spring floral design class will consist of a series of three month-long courses from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, starting March 3, in the Technical Education Center adjacent to the F.L. Schlagle High School at 2220 N. 59th St.
All three courses, which will run over the months of March, April and May, will be conducted by Charlotte Batrez. The March course will go over style interpretation in floral design, the April course will go over color coordination in home and office décor and the May course will go over outside décor.
For the first session of each course, students are asked to provide their own floral wire cutters, scissors, glue gun with extra glue sticks and 15-20 silk flowers of any type.
Cost for the belly dancing class is $50 and cost for each course of the floral design class is $40. Register online at kckcc.edu or by phone at (913) 288-7660.
