BLMS 8th-grade boys off to fast start

The Basehor-Linwood Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball teams opened the season with a pair of games. The varsity squad went 2-0 and the junior varsity went 1-1.
The varsity team opened its season with a 56-14 rout of Lexington Trail on Thursday at BLMS.
Chase Younger scored a game-high 12 points, Tim Sanders and Andrew Magana had 8 apiece, J.P. Downing, Broc Linsay and Sean Potter each scored 6, Avery Fliger had 4 and Austin Sinclair and Jacob Bailey each added 2.
They followed it up with a 42-21 victory Tuesday against Pioneer Ridge. Younger poured in 16 points and Potter had 10 in the victory. Also for BLMS, Magana and Bailey had 4 apiece, Fliger scored 3, and Sanders, Downing and Lindsay each scored 2.
The JV won its opener on Thursday against Lexington Trail, 36-31.
Brian Crowe led the way with 14 points, Jacob Merrick had 8, Mark Vitt scored 4, Johnny Fulkerson and Gage Wiser had 3 apiece and Logan Potts and Zach Fry each added 2.
They followed it up with a hard-fought 42-39 overtime loss Tuesday to Pioneer Ridge.
Crowe had 18 points in the loss, Merrick scored 6, Potts had 5, Wiser and Tyler Carey each had 4 and Fulkerson added 2.
