Light snow not likely to stick around

January 29, 2010

Light snow continues to fall in the Kansas City metro area, but the National Weather Service says the snow should move out sometime later today with little left behind.

Forecasters say the light snow will persist through at least Friday morning before moving out of the area by Friday afternoon. Only minor accumulations of up to an inch are possible south of interstate 70.

There is a chance of snow from Monday through Monday night as another storm system will move through the Central Plains and Midwest. Forecasters say that while there is still some uncertainty with the track and intensity of this system at this time, only minor snow accumulations are expected.

Cold temperatures, however, will persist. The NWS says the high both Friday and Saturday is only going to be 22 degrees. The low overnight Friday is expected to be 10.
