Sunflower State Games registration deadline nears
The first deadline to register for the 21st annual Sunflower State Games is Friday, July 2.
Athletes interested in basketball, disc golf, dodgeball, junior rodeo, rowing, indoor soccer, sand volleyball and wrestling must register by July 2. The deadline for all other sports is Friday, July 9. Those interested may register online at sunflowergames.com. Registrations are also accepted by mail or walk-in at at 820 S. Kansas Ave. Topeka, KS 66610.
2010 marks the ninth year for the annual sports festival in Topeka. Events begin Friday, July 9, with rowing at Lake Shawnee and will wrap up on Sunday, July 25, with the conclusion of the youth basketball tournament. Kansans of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in the 43 different sports. Indoor soccer, sand volleyball, bocce ball and miniature golf join the lineup for new sports offered in the 2010 Games. All athletes and volunteers are invited to attend the Athlete Festival at 6 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Hummer Sports Park.
The Sunflower State Games is a non-profit, statewide amateur sports festival for all Kansans. The purpose of the Games is to provide top-quality amateur competition in a wide range of activities and promote physical fitness, personal health and well-being for Kansans of all ages and skill levels.
