Marching band to get new threads
After 14 years using the same uniforms, the Basehor-Linwood High School marching band will don a new style.
At Monday night's Basehor-Linwood School Board meeting, the board unanimously approved a request from band director Curtis Westbrook to buy new uniforms. Westbrook pointed out to board members problems with the current uniforms, which included some students resorting to duct tape to make their band attire wearable.
In addition to a few worn uniforms, Westbrook presented an original uniform he designed himself with his students in mind.
"I designed this uniform to have a chip on its shoulder," he said with a laugh. "I wanted it to be aggressive and clean."
