Leavenworth County Sewer District No. 3 sewer line bids opened
Bids were opened Wednesday in the Leavenworth County Clerk's Office for the Leavenworth County Sewer District No. 3 sewer line project. Mike Spickelmier, county public works director, said the bids were about $70,000 less than the engineer's estimate of $585,000.
Spickelmier will bring the bids and a recommendation Mondayt to the county commission.
The new line will connect to the city of Bashsor's sewer system. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has ordered the closing the lagoon system that currently serves the district put allowed to continue operating until its replacement is finished.
The county commission considered 2011 budgets for the county's seven sewer district Wednesday morning, but that for district No. 3 was not flushed out because of questions concerning the new line.
Spickelmier was asked to bring a budget Monday based on Wednesday's discussion.
