Letter: Parks and Rec doing fine job
To the editor:
In response to the article, “Parks lacking, says Bonner Beautiful,” I disagree with the Bonner Beautiful Commission's comments about the Parks and Recreation Department. I specifically take issue with (Lloyd) Mesmer's comment about Skip Dobbs “exhibiting a lack of leadership.”
Dobbs has been such an asset to the department and the community as a whole. Under his leadership, we now have excellent soccer fields at North Park and baseball fields, which have remained in remarkable condition even during the recent heavy rains. We have clean playgrounds with well cared for equipment and a wonderfully maintained aquatic park.
In terms of the challenges of training a seasonal staff, I am sure they are many, but whenever I see the Parks and Recreation crews out, they are working hard and are impressively courteous.
Frankly, I feel the complaints made by Bonner Beautiful Commission are petty in relation to all the good work done by the Bonner Springs Parks and Recreation department.
