Lansing student to be lead in Washburn’s ‘Mikado’

Topeka Washburn University student Robert Hanson, of Lansing, will portray the role of Nanki-Poo in performances of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera, “The Mikado,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10, in White Concert Hall on the Washburn campus.
Hanson is a junior majoring in music education, with a concentration in voice. In 2009, he performed the role of Bardolofo in the presentation of scenes from Act II, Scene 2 of Verdi’s opera “Falstaff” and was a member of the chorus for Act I of Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville.”
Tickets are available at the door and are $8 per person and $5 for senior citizens. Washburn students are admitted free with university ID.
