Basehor softball sweeps Turner
Basehor-Linwood outscored Turner 20-2 in a doubleheader sweep Thursday.
The Bobcats won the first game,11-0.
The Bobcats scored one run in the first and then eight runs in the fourth inning to take control. They added two more runs in the seventh.
Megan Rehm and Brooke Redmond led the Bobcats’ attack. Rehm had three hits in five at-bats and scored twice.
Redmond had three hits and scored two runs. She also had two runs batted in. Courtney Leive had one hit and three RBIs.
Shelby Pierce was 2-for-5 with one run scored and an RBI. Tara Chumley drove in a pair of runs.
Redmond pitched the complete game and struck out 14 while allowing just two hits.
Overall, it was a complete performance for the Bobcats.
“We played tough and played aggressive defense,” coach Susan Mayberry said. “We attacked the ball on offense. We are playing solid as a team. Everyone is contributing in their own way.”
Basehor-Linwood won the second game, 9-2.
The Bobcats scored one run in the first, third and fourth innings.
Turner hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to make it a 3-2 game.
Basehor-Linwood, though, broke open the game by scoring four runs in the sixth. The Bobcats scored two more runs in the seventh.
Rehm had three hits and scored two runs. Caylee Smith was 2-for-3 with one run scored. She stole two bases and had three RBIs. Redmond was 3-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
Redmond again pitched for the Bobcats and recorded 10 strikeouts while allowing just three hits.
