KCKCC to play host to Youth Sports Program
Kansas City Kansas Community College will play host to the National Youth Sports Program June 14-July 16.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 10-16 in the Kansas City, Kan., community whose parents or guardians meet Department of Health and Human Services income guidelines.
The NYSP combines sports instruction with exciting educational programs. Those activities include basketball, football, softball, volleyball, soccer, golf, swimming and track and field, as well as programs focusing on alcohol and drug abuse prevention, nutrition and health, higher education and careers, and math and science.
Camp hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays with the one exception of Friday, July 16.
Cost to participate is $25 which includes daily USDA-approved meals, transportation to and from the college campus, interaction with area professionals, college students and staff, a NYSP T-shirt and an opportunity to win prizes.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration packets are now available at the Community Education Building on the east side of the KCKCC campus, 7250 State Ave., and must be picked up in person. They will not be mailed.
Registration will not be considered complete until a current physical examination form is on file.
