May 27, 2010

All season long Basehor-Linwood freshman Aaron Williams showed progress on the golf course.

By the end of the season he was on top of his game.

Williams was the lone BLHS golfer to qualify for the Class 4A state tournament, and on Monday at Hesston Country Club he capped his season by earning a state medal.

Williams finished in an eight-way tie for 18th place. Williams shot a 44 on the front nine and heated up with a 40 on the back side to finish with an 84.

Miles Miller of Wellington was the state champion with a 73. Tonganoxie’s Colby Yates took second with a 75.

St. James Academy won the team title, and Thunder sophomore Parker Miller — who played for Bonner Springs High School last year — finished fourth with a 78.
