Mill Valley leads Basehor at halftime
The game of the year in the Kaw Valley League is living up to the hype at halftime.
Mill Valley (4-1) leads defending league champion Basehor-Linwood (5-0) at halftime, 14-12, at BLHS.
The Jaguars capitalized on an early interception and scored a touchdown on their first possession. Skyler Windmiller capped the 56-yard drive with a 10-yard run. Mark Biesma's extra point made it 7-0 with 6:29 left in the first quarter.
Basehor scored on its ensuing possession. A 2-yard sneak by Colin Murphy got the Bobcats on the board. The 2-point conversion failed, and MVHS led 7-6 with 4:27 left in the quarter.
The Jaguars scored on a 13-yard pass from Windmiller to Staton Rebeck to make it 14-6 with 7:45 left in the second quarter.
Basehor countered with a 7-yard touchdown run by Jesse Hiss. The 2-point conversion was unsuccessful, and the Jaguars led 14-12 with 5:44 to go in the quarter.
Basehor mounted a drive in the closing minutes, and a 39-yard completion from Colin to Ryan Murphy set up first-and-goal from the 4-yard line. The MVHS defense held firm, and Jake Theis intercepted a pass in the end zone on fourth down to close out the half.
