BLHS soccer shrugs off loss to Turner, beats Tongie
The Basehor-Linwood boys soccer team suffered a rare loss Thursday when it fell to Turner, 3-2. The Bobcats regrouped Monday and took out their frustration on Tonganoxie.
Basehor-Linwood beat THS, 5-0.
Basehor-Linwood scored 25 seconds into the game. Cameron Harvey scored the goal on a ball that was played across the field by Symon Seaton. Patrick Rutherford had the assist.
“Oh yeah, it was definitely the start we needed since they played us tight the first game,” BLHS coach Austin Knipp said.
Basehor-Linwood scored again six minutes later and led 2-0. Seaton scored the goal.
“It was nice to get an early lead,” Knipp said of the early offense.
The score was 2-0 at halftime.
Seaton scored the third goal with 15 minutes to play in the second half. Patrick Rutherford scored a goal with seven minutes to go. Destry Bryan scored a goal with five minutes to play.
“We did pretty well that game; we had a lot of chances and team goals,” Knipp said. “We practically controlled the play the whole game. We were definitely ready to play them this time. We may have overlooked them the first time, which I stress not to do, but I think they overlooked them the first time — they caught us on our heels for sure.”
Basehor-Linwood won the earlier meeting 3-2.
The win helped Basehor-Linwood bounce back from a loss to Turner last Thursday.
Turner won the game 4-1.
“It was not too great of a day,” Knipp said. “It seemed like we were ready to play, but did not have a lot of energy.”
Turner led 1-0 at intermission, scoring three goals early in the second period to win the game.
Marcus Box scored a goal with 19 minutes to play in the game. The goal was his first of the season.
