Tonganoxie — Basehor-Linwood's volleyball season is over.

The Bobcats opened the Class 4A substate tournament Saturday at Tonganoxie against two-time defending state champion St. James Academy.

The Bobcats competed hard but were overpowered by St. James, 25-9, 25-9.

St. James scored the first four points in game one and built a 10-2 lead before BLHS made a 5-2 run to close the gap. It wasn't enough, however, as the Thunder pulled away.

St. James opened game two on a 7-3 run and then used a 10-0 run to take command.

BLHS ends its season with a 12-23 record.
