Waterpark details 2011 expansions
The new Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark announced Tuesday some details of the multimillion-dollar 2011 expansion of the park.
The waterpark reported the expansion would include the region’s only Boogie Bahn surf ride, three slides, record-breaking rapids river, whitewater tube chute and additional guest amenities.
“Attendance during our first full season exceeded our expectations,” said Keith Fontenot, general manager for Schlitterbahn Kansas City. “Our unique river tubing experience was well received by our guests. They asked for more, and we are excited to introduce more thrilling attractions and amenities for the 2011 season.”
The Boogie Bahn will allow swimmers to use a body board to ride an artificial wave, replicating ocean surfing. A giant rapids river will take swimmers through a series of rushing rapids and calming currents, and new slides will include two head-first mat slides and a fully enclosed tube slide.
Swimmers also will be able to ride an Aqua Veyer uphill and then float through a series of whitewater rapids on a tube chute that is part of the park’s Transportainment River System.
Details about the new attractions and other elements of the plan will be announced soon.
The park opens for the 2011 season on Saturday, May 21. For more information, contact the Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark office at (913) 312-3110 or visit schlitterbahn.com.
