Lane closings to hit K-7 in Shawnee
An area highway already beset by construction is about to experience lane closures.
Beginning Monday, the Kansas Department of Transportation said, northbound and southbound Kansas Highway 7 would be reduced to one lane each direction from just north of 55th Street/Johnson Drive to just south of 47th Street for construction work on the K-7 and 55th Street/Johnson Drive interchange project. Both northbound and southbound K-7 will be placed directly next to each other on the existing southbound K-7 lanes.
The traffic shift is needed to allow for construction work on the new K-7 interchange alignment to tie it into the existing K-7 alignment officials said.
Drivers should expect some delays and will be directed through the work zone via tubular channel markers. Updated lane closure information for the project can be viewed online here.
The project closure will be in place through summer 2011, weather permitting, KDOT said.
