Basehor-Linwood High School's baseball team opened the season with a strong showing as the Bobcats swept Tonganoxie on Thursday at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.

The Bobcats won game one in eight innings, 8-7, and then cruised to an 8-2 victory in the nightcap.

Tonganoxie scored twice in the bottom of the first inning in game one, and the Bobcats spent a few innings playing catch-up. Each squad score twice in the sixth, and Tonganoxie then tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh when Jeremy Wagner's base hit to center brought home Shawn Marin.

Austin Stubbs helped close out the game and earned the save. Brett Bailes earned the victory on the mound.

Quigley led the BLHS offense with two hits, two runs scored and five RBI. Destry Bryan also had two hits.

In game two, BLHS took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and then extended its lead to 4-0 with a three-run top of the fourth. The Bobcats were in control from start to finish thanks to a dominant pitching performance by Bryan.
