Ferguson’s 5 goals lead Piper to 10-0 victory against BLHS soccer
Kansas City, Kan. The game began with the Basehor-Linwood High School girls soccer team attacking into a heavy wind. It ended with the Bobcats being blown away, 10-0, Tuesday evening at Piper.
The Pirates struck early and often, and by halftime they’d built an insurmountable six-goal lead.
Becca Ferguson did the most damage. She finished the night with five goals, including the Pirates’ first three.
Ferguson scored her first goal in the ninth minute on a header off of a corner kick from Stevi Long.
Ferguson scored two goals more goals less than two minutes apart in the 16th and 18th minutes on nearly identical setups from about 15 yards out.
An 18-yard strike by Megan Woolley stretched Piper’s lead to 4-0 in the 29th minute. Carly Gunnels scored off of an assist from Long in the 34th minute, and Woolley tacked on her second goal of the game with 30 seconds left in the half to make the Pirates’ lead 6-0.
Ferguson scored her fourth goal of the game during the first minute of the second half. She, Lindsay Albracht and Natalie McGinnis all tacked on later goals as Piper earned the mercy-rule victory with about 11 minutes still on the clock.
Basehor-Linwood is now 1-3 this season.
