K-32 to be reduced to one lane starting Friday
Kansas Highway 32 will be reduced to one lane beginning tomorrow from Bonner Springs to Turner.
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced Wednesday evening that, weather permitting, a resurfacing project will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, April 29, on K-32 between Kansas Highway 7 and the Turner Diagonal in Wyandotte County. Eastbound and westbound K-32 each will be reduced to one lane between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, with an occasional Saturday, and work is scheduled to be completed by late May.
Ramps will remain open throughout the project’s duration, except for some short duration closures. No marked detours will be provided. Drivers should expect little to no delays, state officials said. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction throughout the project.
Updated daily traffic information for this pavement repair project can be viewed online at ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
The resurfacing project will smooth the road and fill surface defects that can shorten pavement life. Workers will spread a thin layer of asphalt over the pavement then coat it with a layer of rock chips that is pressed into place with heavy rollers. New pavement markings will be applied to the entire resurfaced roadway.
APAC is the primary contractor on this $1.65 million resurfacing project.
