Videos: Young ‘Patriots’ read essays at Basehor VFW event

Nine winners in the Basehor VFW Post's Patriot's Pen contest read their winning essays at a post meeting Thursday, Jan. 27.
The contest was open to middle-school students, and about 400 students entered, post member Fred Box said.
The winners who spoke at the meeting were Michaela Grimes, Isaiah Foley and Chandreah Hime, sixth grade; Alyssa Foster, Marina Wilson, William Breuer and Zoey DeLeon, seventh grade; and Alyssa Bailey and Daniel Tady, eighth grade.
Morgan Markovich, eighth grade, was also a winner but did not speak at the event.
