University of St. Mary open house to be Friday

February 7, 2011

The University of Saint Mary main campus in Leavenworth will have its spring open house from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, giving prospective students the chance to learn more about USM and its ongoing dedication to academic excellence. Attendees will learn about USM’s programs, talk with professors and current students, and take student-led campus tours. The main campus is at 4100 S. Fourth St., Leavenworth.

Registration is required. Call (800) 752-7043 or visit for information or to register. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. in Mabee Auditorium on the lower level of De Paul Library.

“Open House is a great opportunity for students and families to see the great possibilities that a University of Saint Mary education can offer,” said USM director of enrollment management Ken Wuerzberger. “Open House allows students to become engaged with faculty and staff, familiarize themselves with the financial aid process, and gain a greater understanding on the difference that a liberal arts education can make for them and their future.”

Attendees will also be able to learn about the university's scholarships, payment plans and other aid options.

“We try to make a USM education affordable for every student,” said Judy Wiedower, USM’s director of financial aid. “In fact, 98 percent of all full-time students receive some form of financial aid, including scholarships.”

For military students, the university is a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which supplements existing post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. Eligible students will attend USM tuition and fees-free. For more information, visit for details.
