BLHS girls fall again, will play for 7th place
The home tournament has been anything but sweet for the Basehor-Linwood girls basketball team this week.
After a first-round loss, snow forced the Bobcats to wait two days to play in the second round of the tournament. Basehor-Linwood didn’t pick up much momentum against St. Joe (Mo.) Benton on Friday.
Benton outscored Basehor-Linwood 15-6 in the third quarter, and defeated the Bobcats 48-38.
The third quarter was the deciding factor in the game after Benton led 21-20 at halftime.
Trailing 36-26 in the fourth quarter, Megan Bergstrom scored all nine of her points in the fourth quarter. However, Basehor-Linwood was unable to cut into Benton’s lead. The two teams combined for just 12 points in the fourth quarter, as Benton held on for the victory.
Basehor-Linwood did not have a player score in double figures. Bergstrom, Jamie Johnson and Bailey Hooker each scored 9 points.
Benton was led in scoring by Sydney Wilkinson who scored 13 points. The team’s other scorers were Lindsay Doolan 9; Andee Wahlert, 7; Paige Kneale, 7; Lauryn Doolan, 4.
The Bobcats will play at noon Saturday in the seventh-place game of the tournament.
