Basehor-Linwood student chosen for Girls State

A Basehor-Linwood High School student was chosen to attend the 68th annual session of Sunflower Girls State last week at Kansas University in Lawrence.
Jordanne Tillman of Linwood, the daughter of William and Melissa Tillman, was one of about 325 young women chosen from around the state to attend. All the participants completed their junior year of high school this spring.
Participants learned about the political system and state government, participating in mock campaigns and elections. They also heard from guest speakers, including Gov. Sam Brownback and Secretary of State Kris Kobach.
The event is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
