Basehor’s Little Angels Learning Center awarded $6,000 grant
Little Angels Learning Center in Basehor has received a $6,000 government grant to purchase learning materials.
The Enhancing Childhood Quality Grant, which was awarded via a competitive application process, originated from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The funds for the grant were distributed by the state of Kansas and awarded to early-education facilities in Leavenworth, Wyandotte and Johnson Counties by the Metropolitan Council on Early Learning, part of the Mid-American Regional Council. MCEL awarded about $200,000 worth of the grants, program manager Kyle Matchell said.
Little Angels will use the funds to purchase a variety of furniture and reading materials, ranging from bookshelves and high chairs to hand puppets and climbing equipment, administrator Dave Delladio said.
