Neighbors: Elizabeth Novo-Gradac
Occupation: Our family owns Metro Pawn in Kansas City, Kan.
Place of Birth: Kansas City, Kan.
Family: My husband is David Novo-Gradac, and we have three children: Ashley, Kendall and Cameron (4), but are thinking about adopting a fourth child. We also have two dogs: Milo, our Jack Russell terrier, and Chloe, a Scottie.
Q: When did you move to the Basehor area, and what brought you here?
A: I moved to Basehor in 1994. We bought Grandpa Novo-Gradac’s tree farm located at 158th and State Avenue and lived there for about 10 years. When we sold the property, we moved 2.5 miles down the road and brought about 100 trees with us.
Q: What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
A: I suppose more recently, I registered for a full marathon without training; this was slightly risky. I did manage to reach the finish line, and I’m convinced if I can do it without training, I will do great if I put some effort into it.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
A: Perhaps the “Use it or lose it” advice. Within each of us lie certain qualities and abilities. We are all given talents by God to use for His glory.
Q: What three things would you want people to know about you?
A: I want people to know that my happiness comes from Christ. I want everyone to know that Cheez-Its dipped in ranch dip make me very, very happy. I want everyone to know that if you travel to Sturgis this year during the rally, stop by and visit me at Full Throttle Saloon and your fajita will be on me.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: Growing up, I dreamed of being a flight attendant.
Q: What’s your ideal vacation spot?
A: My ideal vacation spots are anywhere near the beach and Sturgis, S.D. If we could simply move the rally closer to Mexico, I’d stay longer.
