Edmonds, Prioleau 2nd in 4A 100-meter finals
Wichita Basehor-Linwood's speed brigade took center stage Saturday at the Class 4A track and field state championships.
Junior Dakkota Edmonds blazed to a runner-up finish in the girls 100-meter dash finals in 12.46 seconds, barely behind Sumner Academy senior Tyler Sloan's time of 12.40.
Edmonds finished fourth at state in the 100 last year.
Edmonds will race again later today in the 200 finals.
Minutes after her race, Daniel Prioleau stormed to a second-place finish in the boys 100 in 10.74 seconds. Wichita Trinity's Morgan Burns won in a state record 10.66. Prioleau's time was .01 off the old state record.
Prioleau will race again later today in the 400-meter relay finals and in the 200 finals.
