Dove, Vasquez thrive at Gardner; Bobcats eager for home tourney
The Basehor-Linwood girls golf team had a solid outing Tuesday at the Gardner-Edgerton Invitational.
The tournament utilized a two-person scramble format and offered a laid-back atmosphere. The Bobcats thrived. In particular, Marissa Dove and Nicole Vasquez paired up for a third-place finish with a 40 on the par-36, nine-hole course.
Rachel VanFleet and Marriah Clayton teamed up, as did Brooke Schler and Samantha Espinoza, and Whitney Miles and Julie Lough, although none of them earned medalist honors.
The Bobcats next play at 1 p.m. today at the Basehor-Linwood Invitational at Falcon Lakes Golf Course.
“We are looking forward to our home tournament on Thursday,” BLHS coach Noah Simpson said. “It is a great event on a wonderful course, and it’s looking like great weather. We are using this tournament as an 18-hole tune-up for Monday (at the regional tournament). We have a goal of taking a team to state, and tomorrow is good practice for it.”
