October 8, 2011

The Basehor-Linwood girls golf team closed out the regular season with a fifth-place finish out of nine teams at the Basehor-Linwood Invitational Thursday at Falcon Lakes Golf Course.

The Bobcats didn’t play at full strength, which proved a bit costly in the standings.

Spring Hill dominated the tournament with a four-player score of 366. Mill Valley-De Soto took second with 382 and St. James Academy finished third with 399.

Rachel VanFleet and Nicole Vasquez led the Bobcats as they finished 23rd and 24th, respectively, with rounds of 105. Brooke Schler followed in 26th with a 107.

Also for BLHS, Samantha Espinoza shot 116, Julie Lough shot 122 and Marriah Clayton shot 135.

The Bobcats next play Monday at the Class 4A regional tournament at American Legion Golf Course in Concordia. Other teams in the regional are Clay Center, Concordia, De Soto, Holton, Piper, Jefferson County West and Topeka Hayden.
