Halloween events offered

Fort Leavenworth and the University of Saint Mary both will offer Halloween-related events during the coming week.

At the fort, visitors will have a chance to find out for themselves about the post’s many ghost stories during the Haunted Fort Leavenworth Walking Tour.

The walking tour steps off at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29. Tours leave Zais Park every 15 minutes and tickets are available in advance at the Fort Leavenworth Frontier Army Museum at 100 Reynolds Ave. for $13. Children 5 and younger are admitted for free. The University of Saint Mary will offer its annual Halloween concert, “A Little Fright Music,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Xavier Theatre on its Leavenworth campus, 4100 S. Fourth St. Admission is free.

The USM community band and vocal groups will wear costumes, and audience members are invited to come in costume as well. There will be a costume contest for children in fifth-grade or below, with prizes.
