Bobcats rally past Kaws for district title

Basehor-Linwood defeated Perry-Lecompton 35-28 on Thursday, completing a perfect regular season and winning a district title.

Trailing 28-27 in the fourth quarter, Colin Murphy tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Garver with three minutes left in the game for the go-ahead score. The play capped a 10-play drive. On the 2-point conversion, Colin Murphy completed a pass Ryan Murphy and the score was 35-28.

Following the kickoff, Basehor-Linwood recovered a Perry-Lecompton fumble and the Bobcats took the ball over with good field position. Basehor-Linwood successfully ran out the clock, sealing the game with a 5-yard run by Drew Potter on fourth down.

The Bobcats led 19-7 at halftime, but Perry-Lecompton rallied and eventually took a 28-27 lead in the contest.

For the Bobcats, Drew Potter rushed for three touchdowns and also had a receiving touchdown.

Ben Johnson also had a 48-yard touchdown reception for the Bobcats.

Basehor-Linwood now plays Tuesday in the opening round of the Class 4A State playoffs.
