Golf challenge to raise funds for Victory Junction Midwest
Naming rights will be on the line when Painted Hills plays host to the 3rd Annual “Swinging for Victory Golf Challenge,” benefiting Victory Junction Midwest, on Friday, Sept. 23.
An 18-hole scramble starting with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., the foursome contributing the largest gift will receive naming rights and recognition in helping build a portion of the mini-golf course on the new Victory Junction Midwest camp to be built in Wyandotte County. In addition, the foursome will have the opportunity to design one of the holes.
All proceeds will go toward the construction of Victory Junction Midwest, a camp for chronically ill children to be built on 65 acres off Interstate 70 just east of the Kansas Speedway. A free camp for children ages 6 to 16, Victory Junction serves 24 chronic medical conditions and serious illnesses, such as autism, cancer, craniofacial anomalies, diabetes, hemophilia, sickle cell and spina bifida.
Victory Junction is sponsored by NASCAR star Kyle Petty and his wife, Pattie. The Petty’s began looking for a second site after more than 3,500 campers and their families began using the original camp in Randleman, N.C. Constructed on land donated by Richard Petty, that camp opened in 2004.
The entry fee for the Sept. 23 tournament is $100 per person or $400 per team and includes a pre-tournament lunch starting at 11:30 a.m., a post-tournament dinner, silent auction and awards presentation, a sleeve of Titleist Victory Junction golf balls and official Victory Junction Golf Challenge shirt. Competitors will also have an opportunity to purchase mulligans in honor of Adam Petty, who was killed in a NASCAR accident.
In addition, three partner levels are available, including a one only Event Title Partner for $5,000 which will include naming rights to an event, two foursomes for the Golf Challenge and signage and other business promotions. Eighteen $1,000 Tee Box partnerships are also available, along with Victory Golf Challenge partnerships for donations under $1,000. Full details can be found on Painted Hills website, paintedhillsgolfcourse.com.
