Tough schedule tests BSHS volleyball
The Bonner Springs High School volleyball team faced its toughest quadrangular of the season Thursday at Gardner-Edgerton, and although the Braves went winless they showed progress in spurts.
“I was still proud of them,” BSHS coach Heather Campbell said. “They had some big blocks, strong hits and some great digs against some very good hitters. We also had some three- and four-point runs.”
Gardner-Edgerton beat BSHS 25-15, 25-17, and Blue Valley Southwest held off the Braves 25-18, 25-21. The Braves closed the night with a 25-22, 25-13 loss to Spring Hill.
Bonner Springs dropped to 9-11 for the season. The road doesn’t get any easier for the Braves. They played a best-of-five match at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Class 5A powerhouse Lansing. Results were unavailable at press time.
“Our objective on Tuesday and against the other tough opponents we will see this year will be to put it all together and not have the relapses of careless mistakes and things that can be avoided,” Campbell said. “And when we get the sideout point, our goal is to always get the next point as well when we are serving so we can keep serving and gain momentum.”
