BSHS girls swim team third at Leavenworth Invitational
The Bonner Springs girls swim team placed third with 165 points at the Leavenworth Invitational on Tuesday.
Madison Stumbough, Cassie Stock, Toni Stock and Elizabeth Barger got things started for the Braves in the 200-yard medley relay with a third-place finish. The same team went on to place second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Lei’Onna Smith, Stephanie Rose, Scintilla Capalla and Akiko Capalla finished fifth in the event.
In individual events, Toni Stock won the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best time and Rose placed fourth in the same event. Toni Stock also took first in the 100-yard butterfly. Smith swam a personal-best time to finish seventh in the same event, followed by Barger at ninth.
Cassie Stock won the 500-yard freestyle and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle. Akiko and Scintilla Capalla also placed seventh and eighth the 200-yard freestyle, respectively.
Stumbough wasn’t far behind Cassie Stock in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing third in the event. She later went on to place first in the 100-yard backstroke, followed by Rose at third. Barger concluded the Braves’ highlights with a fourth-place finish and new personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Braves return to the pool at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Turner Invitational.
