Fall city wide yard sale approaches
Bonner Springs Parks and Recreation Department will have its Fall City Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, Sept. 15. Residents are encouraged to start their sales at 7 a.m. and to end them by 3 p.m.
The city organizes the day to motivate buyers from Missouri and the Kansas Metro area to come to Bonner Springs and take advantage of multiple garage and yard sales. The city advertises the day in the metro area and online.
For $5, Parks and Recreation will list an address with two lines describing what a resident is selling in a booklet that includes a city map. The registration deadline for advertising the yard sale is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The city also is offering space for residents to sell their goods in the city parking lot at Cedar and Third Street. A nine- by 18-foot space can be purchased for a $5 fee, and a larger than normal general listing of goods will be placed in the booklet advertising the entire parking lot.
Dustin Care, recreation coordinator, said participation in the twice-annual sale event has been steadily increasing, with about 70 booklets sold during the spring sale.
Shoppers may pick up a booklet for $1 at the Bonner Springs Community Center, 200 E. Third St. Booklets will be available for purchase until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, and 7 -10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15. For more information, call Care at 422-7010.
