— Three days ago, Basehor-Linwood's Chase Younger was a one-man show on the hardwood. Friday night at Tonganoxie, it was Tim Sanders' turn to steal the spotlight.

Sanders erupted for 27 points and the Bobcats cruised to a 69-50 win against their Kaw Valley League rival.

BLHS (3-1, 3-0 KVL) jumped in front early in the contest, but the Chieftains (0-3, 0-3) stayed within striking distance for the duration of the first half. Coach Mike McBride's squad led by just five at halftime, but slowly started to pull away in the third quarter and extended its lead to 10 by the end of the period.

Any thoughts of a fourth-quarter comeback were quickly erased, as the Bobcats took advantage of numerous THS turnovers to put the game on ice in the final minutes.

Sanders was nearly unstoppable all night, going 11-of-12 from the floor. His only miss came on his only 3-point attempt.

"We have a very unselfish group of juniors who have played together for a very long time," McBride said. "After Chase Younger scored 39 (on Tuesday), I just kind of wondered who was next."

Younger and J.P. Downing joined Sanders in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Tonganoxie freshman Jack Dale led the Chieftains with 17 points.

The Bobcats will try to stay undefeated in KVL play when they travel Tuesday to Turner.

"We're just trying to get better right now," McBride said. "With all the injuries we've had, we're just trying to keep the team together and have the best record we can going into Christmas."
