Bonner student wins county spelling bee
A Bonner Springs student recently was crowned the winner of the Wyandotte County Spelling Bee.
Sabria Zlitni, a seventh-grade student at Clark Middle School, was named Wyandotte County Spelling Bee Champion Feb. 3 at the competition, which took place in Turner. Sabria’s winning word was “praline.”
As county spelling bee champ, Sabria is qualified to represent the county in the Sunflower Spelling Bee, a 66-county regional bee on March 17 in Great Bend, Kan. The winner of the regional bee will be qualified to attend the National Spelling Bee in June in Washington, D.C.
The runner-up was Diego Acosta, a sixth-grade student at Oak Grove Elementary in the Turner USD 202, and third place went to Jalah Danks, a fifth-grade student at Hazel Grove Elementary in Kansas City, Kan. USD 500.
